Favorite Sports Guy of the Day: Nick Abendanon

The beautiful and blonde Nick Abendanon who is from South Africa, currently plays for Bath Rugby in England. Last season he won three awards which were Top Tryscorer, Most Improved Player and Try of the Season Award.

Favorite DJ of the Day: Micky Friedmann

The absolutely gorgeous Micky Friedman grew up in Israel and his love for music led him to pursue a career in dance. For the next two decades, Mickey concentrated on perfecting his dance skills, specifically ballet around the world before returning to Israel to complete his mandatory stint in the Israeli military. When he completed his stint, he returned to dance which led him to be spotted by some of the world's leading photographers which led him to modeling.

Dischanted with both modeling and dancing, Micky finally returned to his first love music. Micky has become quite a famous DJ around the world, particulary in Germany where his spinning if famous. He DJ's both in Europe and in the States. Beautiful man with beautiful moves and tons of talent. You can see the dancer and the music in his pictures, it shines through.

Going to the Dogs, Continued

As promised, today's parade of cakey canines features the icing-drowned cupcake pups, which in my opinion ride dangerously close to the whole cupcake-cake-concept, and are therefore worthy of all the condemnation we can heap on them. But, I digress.

First up, a creation that looks more like a doggy end-product than a dog:

That's the side view. If you're thinking it will be more recognizable from the front...

Think again. Oh, and don't you love all the effort put into decorating the cake board? Somebody's shootin' for the stars.

This one's not bad, other than the fact that it's neon pink, worried-looking, and apparently vomiting sprinkles. Huh. Come to think of it, that last bit might explain the first two issues (although then neon green would be more appropriate).

Here's my favorite: the pooch's face has slid completely off his head and onto the board! I'm guessing the decorator added those paw prints after a few customers asked why the store was selling misshapen icing ploops on a board. (Yes, "ploops". I find it to be an apt description.)

Now there's a face only a mother could love. (And only a decorator could recognize, for that matter. Seriously, would you know this thing was supposed to be a dog?)

Favorite Classic Soap Hunk of the Day: Doug Davidson

Hard to believe this years marks's Doug Davidson's 30 year anniversary on 'The Young and the Restless' as Paul Williams. Doug and his character have lasted so long because there is just something about this guy that is so likable. I am sure this has hindered Doug with roles as it is just hard to picture him as the bad guy. Doug began as a model and began taking on small acting roles in commericals and tv. Doug happened to be on the set of Y & R with a friend when the producer at the time spotted him and eventually cast him on the show.

Doug is most certainly one of daytimes most successful actors. Holding a job in the business for 3 decades is something to be celebrated. I remember the magazines from the 80's full of shirtless pics of the adorable Doug with his amazing smile and blond hair, not to mention his most enchanting chest. Doug has this look which reminds me of old time movie stars like Cary Grant, Robert Redford and others. There is something timeless about his appeal. I only watched Y & R for brief periods of time in the 80's and 90's as a teen and through college, but I have always kept an eye on Doug.

I did not watch Y&R when Lauren turned Paul Williams into a centerfold, but wish I had.

Going to the Dogs

For some reason canine cakes seem to be all the rage these days, particularly in grocery-store bakeries. Now, I don't want to get down on these decorators too much, considering that a) they are usually over-worked and under-trained, and b) they outnumber me significantly. That said, you'd think that whoever was in charge of this kind of thing would have known that these doggy designs were a little, shall we say, beyond this group's collective skill set?

For example, here's the picture you order from:

And here's what you get:

Niiice. See, you can tell it's the exact same cake you ordered, 'cuz it has that red loopy bow sticking out of its head. I particularly like the oozing eye. Plus, that red "collar" looks a lot more like a gushing cranial wound - ditto for the "tongue".

I guess this one's a little better:

But it still looks more like a dirty mop-head with a face drawn on than a dog. Where are the legs? The ears? The neck? Also, if you're going to have a cake like this, why oh why would you stick candles in the poor pooch's back? He looks like he's been the target of sky-diving archers.

Also in vogue are the tiny cupcake pups, ala Miss Love-You-1.000-Time. These are already wrecktastic in concept, given that there are only 2 cupcakes underneath the deluge of frosting, but the execution just makes 'em that much better. Check back tomorrow for those; this post is officially "to be continued"!
